Now that we have previously discussed what colors go great inside your home for the new year, let’s talk about the exterior of your home. The exterior colors of your home are just as important as the interior. We’ll talk about what to look for when choosing the exterior colors of your home to make sure your colors go with the environment and blend perfectly.
Look At Your Roof
The shade of your roof can determine the color of the house. If you have roofing materials like slate, steel, or metal, the colors are not so diverse. The best colors for those are more neutral or dark. Muted shades are going to be the best to blend the contrast with the bright metal. Black, brown or gray are where you would want to stay. Don’t choose a bright color, as you don’t want bright with bright, it gets too over powering.
For other colors of roofing, make sure you look at the shingle colors in full sunlight and at dusk. Colors can change in different lighting, so make sure the color you want works in any type of light. If it’s showing a darker color, then a bright exterior color will evenly contrast your home. Light colored walls with a dark roof are a lot more popular than the opposite.
Your Environment
Where you live will help determine what colors to choose for the exterior paint of your home. If you live near water or the sea, houses with a light blue tone with white shingles looks more appealing. If you live in the mountains or in a forest and you have a dark roof, look at more brighter colors like a bright red, lighter blues, plum purple or even orange. There are so many colors to choose from when deciding what goes with the environment that you live in.
White and Other Light Colors
White can have a lot more benefits than you might think. White or other lighter colors can make your home look bigger. It also helps absorb less heat, especially if you live somewhere that is always hot. White does this by reflecting the sun’s rays and keeping the home cool. Plus, if you wanted to add another color, anything goes! Just keep in mind, any small damages or dirt can easily be visible with white. Same rules apply from the interior of your home to the exterior.
Black and Other Darker Colors
Surprisingly, covering your home in all black can be more appealing than most people think. Black homes are a trend that keeps growing in popularity. It works well with brick and wood materials. Black provides a more elegant, beautiful and mysterious appearance. There are many benefits when using black. For instance, if you have a garden, the colors of your garden will stand out against the black background of your home. When you are painting the black on the exterior of your home, you don’t have to use that much coating since it covers everything well.
Brown or Neutral Colors
Neutral colors never go out of style. It is the safest option when choosing colors for the exterior of your home. The more original you can make the home look, the more charming and warm a home can be. These natural colors will additionally fit into any style and environment.
If you are loving multiple colors, remember the main rule, less is more. You don’t have to stick with one color for your home, but don’t go too overboard with multiple colors. Two to three colors are more than enough for the exterior of your home.
